www.curenation.org
CureNation.org was the brainchild of John Kennedy, one of the founders of CapeLight Corporation, and a survivor of
what was originally diagnosed as terminal cancer. It is dedicated to helping patients find a cure for cancer and other
terminal illnesses, even when they have already been told that no cure is available.
Technology: The site was built using MySQL as a back-end, Perl to generate the dynamic content, and Perl DBD/DBI to
interface to the underlying database. It was later re-deployed using PHP in place of Perl, to add additional features and improve maintainability.
The dynamic nature of the site is most especially apparent in the "News" feature of the site, which allows site
administrators to post relevant news articles, and allows users of the site to view the articles sorted by date, relevance,
or other criteria, as well as allowing users to search for specific areas of interest to them.
The site also includes a public forum for cancer survivors and other interested persons to communicate openly with one
another.
This site is still under development, and will be expanded in the future to include significant amounts of fully
searchable and dynamic information.
