Cape Cod Central Railroad
www.capetrain.com

This is the corporate site of the Cape Cod Central Railroad, a tourist railroad in Cape Cod, Massachusetts that offers scenic train excursions, as well as the top ranked elegant dinner train in the U.S.

Technology: This is primarily a static site, however the site is tightly integrated with the dinner train reservation system, which was developed by Jeff during his employment with the railroad. Through the web site, customers can book reservations for the dinner train, as well as select entrees prior to the trip. This information is directly recorded in to the reservation system database and immediately available to all key staff members, including the reservations staff, serving staff, and caterers. Customer service representatives also have direct access to the reservation system from their desktops, allowing them to directly enter reservations in to the system as they take them over the phone, or from walk-in customers. The reservation system then generates reports critical to the operation of the dinner train. Everything from seating charts for the waitstaff, to accounting reports for the administrative team and caterers, to consist reports instructing the train crews how to assemble and order the actual dining cars on the train are generated by the system prior to each evening's dinner train departure. The system also prints personalized boarding passes for the dinner train's individual guests.

In addition to the dinner train reservation system, the web site is also integrated with the NERAIL Photo Archive web site, allowing visitors to the site to view photographs of the Cape Cod Central railroad, taken by railfans and amateur photographers. Far from a simple link back to the Photo Archive web site, this integration is completely transparent to the user. When viewed within this context, the photos and descriptions appear to actually be a part of the Cape Cod Central web site itself.
