This is the site of GameMover, one of the services that Jeff has offered to customers under the CapeLight Corporation umbrella.

Technology: The site was built using MySQL as a back-end, Perl to generate the dynamic content, and Perl DBD/DBI to interface to the underlying database. It also utilizes MS Access and ODBC to provide access to the database for the site owner.

The site implements a zip code longitude/latitude database, allowing visitors to the site to receive instant, mileage based quotes for GameMover services. When a user selects a quote request and enters their zip codes, the site automatically calculates the distance between the locations to provide a customized quote for that user. The site determines the distance, service area, and what services are availbale to those locations, thus instantly providing the user with a completely customized quote.

The site also allows users to book deliveries on-line. When a user does so, their information is stored in a back-end SQL database. This database is used for customer order tracking, and is also accessed by other systems, both web and MS Access based, to automatically generate all of the paperwork needed by the site owner to complete the order.

The modular nature of the site also allows third parties (typically eBay sellers) to include an instant quote generator on their own sites and auction listings. This quote generator is seamlessly and transparently linked to the GameMover site, so that users may receive quotes and book delivery orders directly through the third party's site.
